Privacy

Short version: cocks.io knows your nickname and your e-mail address, and it keeps your IRC messages for as long as you keep your bouncer. There is no tracking, no analytics and no advertising, because there is nobody to sell anything to.

What is stored

IRC message buffers	The backlog is the service. Without it there is no bouncer.	While the account exists, then the buffer is dropped.
Nick and channel list	So the bouncer can reconnect to them while you are offline.	Until you disconnect or delete.
Server logs	Diagnosing connection problems and abuse.	Rotated out within days.

What is not collected

No analytics, no page-view tracking, no fingerprinting, no third-party scripts.
No advertising profile, because there are no ads and no ad partners.
No third-party cookies. The only cookie is a session identifier needed to keep you logged in.
No real name, no postal address, no phone number. None of it is needed and none of it is asked for.

Who can see what

The operator of this server can read your bouncer, and that includes your message buffers. That is inherent to running a bouncer for you and there is no way around it — if that is not acceptable, do not use the service. Beyond that, nobody: the bouncer speaks to QuakeNet, and neither QuakeNet nor any third party can see your traffic to us or your password.

One honest caveat: an IRC network sees the messages you send to it, because that is what an IRC network is for. Traffic between your client and this bouncer is TLS-encrypted, but once a message is on QuakeNet it is no longer private to you.

Where the data lives

On servers in Germany. Transfers are TLS on every port the service listens on, and the web front end is served over HTTPS only. The IRC port is TLS-only as well; there is no unencrypted port open for convenience.

Deleting your data

Mail ninja@cocks.io with your bouncer name. The account, the buffers and the stored e-mail address are deleted by hand. There is no self-service deletion because there is no account portal to delete it from. Expect it to take a couple of days, because it is done by a person.
